Year planted: 1950/2001

First year of production: 1994 under the name Annata and since 2001 under the name Tulin

Soil: Medium texture with a rich content of mineral microelements such as magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium.

Characteristics: Tulin is the name we have chosen since 2001 to identify the previous Barbaresco, which until then had no name. We named this wine after the vineyard where the grapes originate, giving it an identity enhanced by a soil whose microclimate and exposure constitute an undeniably valuable setting. In Piedmontese dialect, Tulin refers to a small, round, concave, carved tin container with a dual purpose: in churches, to collect the wax dripping from candlesticks, and in stables, as a tool for feeding livestock. Spirituality and practicality, the soul and hands of the winemakers. Tulin is pronounced with an accent on the i.

Technical notes: Our desire to convey the characteristics of the grape in the bottle influences all transformation and aging processes. This wine is produced with modern techniques and tools, yet still in the traditional manner, striving to harmonize the austerity of this great grape variety with the new concepts of persuasiveness and pleasantness associated with international tastes. Maceration on the skins takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, and after a period of natural decantation, also in steel, the almost finished wine is transferred to wood, where it ages for approximately two years. Due to the significant difference in altitude, characteristic of this hill, the wine ages in different woods, used separately and then blended. This allows us to prevent excessive wood from drying out the wine further. It is then released for sale after another nine months in the bottle.

Tasting notes: A beautiful ruby red color. The nose reveals ample aromas of magnesium and iron, linked to the minerality of the soil, fruity with clearly evident varietal notes and a balanced amount of wood. The austere characteristics typical of Nebbiolo are fully expressed on the palate, where smoothness, savory flavors, and just the right amount of tannins create a velvety and enveloping finish.
