Grape variety: Nebbiolo
Vineyard location: Municipality of Verduno, Monvigliero MGA
Harvest period: Second ten days of October
Harvest characteristics: The 2021 vintage enjoyed excellent water supplies thanks to a rainy winter, enriched by some snowfall, which ensured good water reserves. Regular vegetative recovery, according to traditional timing, resulted in extremely healthy bunches, with optimal phenological ripening, facilitated by the drop in temperatures and the temperature ranges observed from the second half of September onwards. Significant polyphenolic content guarantees a structured, balanced, and elegant wine, destined to last over time.
Winery production: Selection of the best grapes from the 4 hectares cultivated with three different exposures: south, south/east, and south/west.
Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, maximum 26ºC/27ºC, for 40 days,
a longer than average thanks to the exceptional quality and resilience of the skins in the 2021 vintage.
Aging:
Takes place in 2500-liter French oak barrels for 30 months. Further aging follows in stainless steel tanks
and then in the bottle.
Alcohol content: 14.5% ABV
Tasting notes: Delightful on the nose thanks to the breadth of aromas revealed. Energy and character with
hints of red plums, dried red flowers, and spices. Hints of cinnamon, cloves, and white pepper emerge.
Full-bodied. Ripe tannins and a subtle, decisive finish. A sensory journey from nose to mouth, passing through aromas of
rose, ripe fruit, delicate spices, and tobacco.
Pairings: The finesse and elegance of this wine pairs best with meat dishes or aged cheeses.
Sipped at the end of a meal with pieces of dark chocolate, it becomes the perfect finishing touch to an excellent Langhe meal. It's also suitable for bold pairings with a Barolo, such as fish or mushroom and truffle risotto. Furthermore, its characteristic lightly spicy notes make it suitable for more extravagant pairings, particularly when spice dominates.
