Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
Vineyard: Located in the Roero area of Santa Vittoria d'Alba, in the Valle Spinzo area, chosen for its rich aroma and less structure than the estate's other soils, where Nebbiolo for Barolo or Barbaresco is grown;
Exposure: East
Soil: Sedimentary with predominantly sandy marl
Age: 20 years
Harvest period: Normally in the first half of September
Production: Approximately 6,000 bottles
Vinification and aging: The grapes are transported to our cellar in Santa Maria di La Morra, where they are initially cooled to approximately 14°C, macerated in the press for approximately 12 hours with whole bunches, soft pressing and subsequent static decantation at 10-12°C for approximately 18 hours, racking, alcoholic fermentation, and maturation on their lees.
This is not a rosé wine made by bleeding.
Bottling: April
Tasting notes:
In the glass, it presents a delicate pink color with orange highlights. The bouquet is rich in floral aromas, violets, and rose petals, with a very fresh presence of red fruits, black cherry, strawberry, and pomegranate. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, very pleasant to taste, with a light finish of pink grapefruit. It has good structure and roundness, once again confirming the character of Nebbiolo as an expression of its terroir.
Very versatile, it pairs excellently with raw fish, risotto, fried meats, and vegetables. It also pairs well with cured meats and cheeses, and is best enjoyed fresh with barbecued meats.
Grape harvest period: September 21st, later than usual, a situation that has also occurred for other vineyards and for Nebbiolo from Langhe Nebbiolo or Barolo.
Bottling: March 6, 2024
Number of bottles produced: 6,430.
Profits from the sale of Rosa d'Agosto Langhe rosé DOC are donated to charitable causes. In the first and second years of production, they were donated to the D.i.Re association in Rome, "Women in Network Against Violence," which fights gender-based violence. In the third and fourth years (the 2023 vintage, which is being served in this chapter), they were donated to the non-profit organization Ho Cura in Alba, which provides palliative care for terminally ill patients.
