Grape variety: Moscato
Description
Freshness, aromaticity, and a fine perlage: this is Moscato d'Asti from La Morandina. A sweet white wine, pale in color—yellow with green highlights—with a fragrant and fresh nose, offering notes of orange blossom, lychee, gardenia, and aromatic herbs such as lemon balm.
On the palate, it sparkles smoothly with light acidity, fresh and savory with a mentholated and sage-like aftertaste.
The Morando family has deep roots in Castiglione Tinella, dating back to 1780; The philosophy that guides Giulio and Paolo Morando is one of total respect for the environment, with the rejection of chemicals in the vineyard and the installation of a modern photovoltaic system that generates almost 50% of the electricity.
Why you should drink it
Because Moscato d'Asti is the winery's most representative wine, the true flagship of this wonderful land. High among the pinnacles of wines under this denomination, it is the perfect expression of hard work, history, passion, and uniqueness!
When to uncork it
This Moscato d'Asti originates from the same production areas as the Langhe hazelnut. Do you know what that means?
This wine is a must-have pairing with hazelnut biscuits or, even better, the classic Torta di Langa.
In summer, it's an excellent partner for seasonal fruit salads!
How to drink it
To best enjoy the sweetness and freshness of La Morandina's Moscato d'Asti, serve it at around 6-8°C.
Vinification and Aging
The grapes, a pure Moscato Bianco variety, are harvested from a total vineyard area of up to 10 hectares and located at an altitude of approximately 300 meters. Alcoholic fermentation occurs naturally in pressure tanks. After a month, fermentation is stopped when all the sugar has been transformed. Finally, the wine is bottled in conditions that preserve its effervescence.
Territory
The "Collina Morandini" in Castiglione Tinella extends at an altitude ranging from 280 to 400 meters above sea level. The vineyards have an average age of 40/45 years.
Soil
The soil is predominantly calcareous, with some tuff.
