From "Pasinotti," the "red" soul of the historic Nas-cëtta hill
The calcareous soil, southern exposure, and geographical location just a few meters beyond the boundary of the Barolo DOCG production area make the Pasinotti hill a perfect place for Nebbiolo. With the project launched in 2014 to reclaim and enhance this historic Nas-cëtta hill, Le Strette therefore sought to also give space to Nebbiolo and the character this land bestows upon it, working to produce the eponymous Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC: an important designation that since 1970 has contributed to the expression of the character of the wines produced in the Langa and Roero with this prized grape.
The Pasinot Nebbiolo d'Alba preserves the grape's typical tannicity and complexity, expressed in a highly elegant context. The progressive age of the vineyard will certainly make "Pasinot" an increasingly important Nebbiolo d'Alba, which from the 2022 harvest will claim the "Superiore" classification.
In the Vineyard
Altitude: 330 to 360 m above sea level
Soil: calcareous marl on a medium-sandy texture, fairly loose.
Grape variety: Nebbiolo
Plant density: 5,000 vines/hectare
Training system: espalier with simple Guyot pruning.
Year planted: 2016.
In the Cellar
Soft pressing and destemming. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel for approximately 20-25 days.
Aging in wood for approximately 24 months, with an initial period in smaller barrels (225-500 liters) and subsequent finishing in larger barrels for approximately one year.
In the glass
Ruby red color of excellent intensity, with some garnet highlights, classic Enticing aromas of fresh, dried flowers, often accompanied by notes of currant, raspberry, and sweet spice.
Balanced acidity and a substantial, yet soft, and pleasant tannin remind us that we are drinking Nebbiolo, revealing, without overpowering, the rustic personality of the historic Langhe grape.
It is a wine that can be appreciated as early as the third year, but it can certainly hold its own even years later.
At the table
It is an ideal combination of fruit, elegance, complexity, and body: perfect with robust pasta dishes and red meats, even those with a good fat content, and well-aged cheeses.
